At Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA), we're seeking caring, dependable individuals to join our team as Direct Care Worker. In this hands-on role, you'll provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs—helping them thrive in both residential and community settings. Whether you're assisting with daily routines, facilitating group activities, or simply offering a kind presence, your work will make a real difference. What You'll Do As a Residential Support Specialist, you'll provide direct care and support to individuals in group homes and community environments.Responsibilities include:
Supporting individuals in daily living tasks such as laundry, meal prep, and grocery shopping Providing transportation in agency-owned vehicles Assisting with medication distribution and documentation Facilitating individual and small group activities based on treatment plans Participating in team meetings and person-centered planning Maintaining accurate records, including progress notes and incident reports Creating a safe, welcoming, and consistent living environment Practicing gentle teaching and trauma-informed care What You Bring High school diploma or GED preferred Knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health issues is helpful Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions Lived experience with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use is valued Must be at least 18 years old Valid Michigan driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends Team-oriented mindset and a heart for service You'll Thrive Here If You… Enjoy helping others live more independently Value teamwork, inclusion, and community connection Are dependable, empathetic, and eager to learn Want a flexible role with meaningful impact About Us NeMCMHA has proudly served Alpena, Alcona, Presque Isle, and Montmorency counties since 1968.
