Job Description
Bay Human Services In search of reliable staff who are independent thinkers, have strong communication skills, the ability to assist with problem solving and allow individual choice making. You will be working one on one with an individual within an apartment setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing assistance and support with independence, coping skills, personal hygiene, behaviors and community integration. Assist individuals with getting in/out of a bed or wheelchair.
Assist with personal grooming such as dressing/undressing, bathing, toileting and the grooming of hair and skin.
Assist with medications.
Assist with getting to medical appointments, shopping and social activities.
Perform general household duties such as cleaning, cooking, changing bed linens, light gardening, laundry and ironing.
Report all unusual incidents/emergency/crisis situations to Program Manager.
Adhere to all policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as required.
Possess genuine concern for and ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
Ability to communicate with empathy and establish and maintain supportive relationships which promote freedom and choice.
Excellent organizational, communication, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills. Self-directed and resourceful.
Valid driver's license.
Possible exposure to health risks (violence and infectious diseases).Sometimes lifts, carries, or moves objects up to 25 lbs.
Stooping, bending, turning, stretching, lifting and moving equipment.
May be required to work variable hours/shifts. #zr
