OVERVIEW

We are hiring for positions on second and third shifts, which include every other weekend and rotating holidays. Aquinata Hall is a 45-bed facility. We offer holistic, restorative healing, healthcare, and residential services for seniors. Aquinata Hall is a Home for the Aged that is home to Sisters and lay residents where they enjoy the benefits of communal living, nurse, and medication support. Accommodations are top-notch with private rooms in a natural, serene campus.
SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the position is to provide residents with routine personal care and assist with activities of daily living.
CAREGIVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Hours include every other weekend and some holidays.
  • Assists with activities of daily living such as toileting, showering, grooming, and adequate nutritional intake.
  • Assists with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, showers, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. as needed, utilizing good body mechanics and safety precautions, including the appropriate/proper use of assistive devices and mechanical lifts.
  • Responds promptly to call lights to assist residents with their needs.
  • Assists residents with medications and treatments as instructed.
  • Measures and records vitals as instructed.
  • Assists with dining, laundry services, and housekeeping services, and maintains a safe, secure, and sanitary environment.
  • Encourages each resident's autonomy and dignity by communicating in a respectful and sensitive manner according to their needs.
  • Assists residents with orientation and structure throughout the day as necessary.
  • Assists in the development of service plans.
  • Informs nurse of any changes in condition and/or other health related information.
  • Reports needed maintenance repairs and other environmental concerns.
  • Interacts with residents in a friendly manner while monitoring their comfort level and needs.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

CAREGIVER QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Caregiving experience preferred.
  • Must possess computer experience.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of the appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the geriatric population.
CAREGIVER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifts a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet as needed for transfers, with assistance by other staff and/or gait belt.
  • Carries an average weight of 1-10 pounds, several times a day up to 50 feet.
  • Pushes, pulls average weight of 10 - 250 pounds for a distance of 10 - 100 feet on carpet/tile as necessary for pushing food carts and wheelchair bound persons to several times a day.
  • Pushes, pulls, moves, and/or carries a minimum of 50 pounds a minimum distance of 5-10 feet.
  • Stands on carpet/tile up to 80% of the day.
  • Sits up to 25% of the day.
  • Walks on carpet/tile up to 75% of the day, up to 10-100 feet, occasionally 1-2 hours at a time, occasionally up to ½ mile at a time on pavement/sidewalk.
  • Runs up to 100 yards on occasion in case of emergency.
  • Reaches, bends, and squats several times an hour.
  • Maintains a work pace of steady to fast-paced at times, multi-tasks several times a day.
  • Assists in the evacuation process in emergency situations.
