Job Description

Provides companionship and monitoring of the client.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited High School or equivalent preferred. Ability read, write and follow directions. At least 18 years of age and has demonstrated competency. Trained in first aid Work positively and favorably with clients, families, and staff. Demonstrate compassion, responsibility, and cheerful attitude Responsibilities/essential functions: The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Follows the instructions of the Caregiver Team Leader.
  • Engages client and provides companionship.
  • Observe and report any safety hazards found in the client's home or any significant observations regarding the client.
  • Attend staff meetings and participates in orientation of new employees.
  • Report client complaints to the Caregiver Team Leader.
  • Maintain client confidentiality/adheres to HIPPA requirements and agency policy and procedures manual.
  • Possess the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Report abnormal findings in client's conditions to the Caregiver Team Leader.
  • Attend staff meetings, attend/complete 12 hours of annual in-services, and participates in orientation of new employees.
  • Have knowledge of agency policy and procedures.
  • Be trained in first aid.
  • Provide protective oversight, prevent wandering, and standby assistance.
Proper use of redirection techniques. Provide accompaniment during outings, such as doctor visits, shopping, banking, errands. Encourage the client to exercise and provide standby assistance. Prepare nutritious meals. Sit with client to allow for caregiver respite. Provide Housekeeping to include at least the following: Wash Dishes Vacuum Laundry Empty Trash Change Linen Make Bed Mopping

Environmental Elements Employee works in an office environment sometimes with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. Employee will have to travel to a variety of client homes and perform in conditions that vary greatly depending upon the client's home environment. Some homes will be clean, neat, and maintained at a comfortable temperature. Other homes may be cluttered, dirty, with an uncomfortable temperature.
