Job Description

Job Description EDEH, a Group Home agency located in Wake County, NC is looking for reliable Direct Support Specialist in the area. The DSP's primary responsibility is to facilitate success for Persons serviced: Persons with Intellectual Disabilities/ Physical Disabilities; Persons with mental health disabilities/learning disabilities; Persons who are deaf/hard of hearing; Person with traumatic brain injuries; and Persons who are blind/visually impaired. Duties Include (not limited to): Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served. Ensures client safety and maintaining a safe environment. At times - Remind and assists clients with self-administration of medications (with proper training). Encourages self-help activities. Reports changes in client's condition or family situations to administrators and supervisors. Documents services provided. Performs community managed activities such as light exercise, library/ educational activity, community outings, and community service events. Plan meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up. Transport and Accompanies clients to scheduled appointments and running errands. Assists with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs as necessary. ... Other duties as assigned. ACH and Group Homes Preferred:
Experience with Personal Care/Dependent Care Experience with Individuals diagnosed with Autistic Experience working with Mental Health, Medical Care, Child Care and Group Homes population
