Job Description

Would like to hire a fun, energetic, confident, flexible person to help us help teach our adult son
  • autism
  • to be independent.
This position is NOT for a caregiver to do things for him. The person we hire will help us teach our son to be independent within his home and in the community. Preferably someone who is familiar with Autism but not necessary. We will train. He is an easy going person without aggressive or self injurious behaviors. He in nonverbal, has limited receptive language and is a visual learner.
  • Please Note:
    during the initial hiring phase and training, the hours will be part time. When applying for this position-it be for a long term/full time live-in provider
  • as a roommate with private bedroom/bathroom to assist and promote independent living. The housing for a roommate will not be compatible for a family
  • This job involves teaching household daily living skills such as teaching how to prepare his meals or snacks, how to do his laundry and personal hygiene.
It also involves going out in the community to purchase groceries, eating in restaurants, social activities such as dances and local sporting events, exercise such as swimming/gym/walking/hiking and engaging with peers-etc. Most scheduled time for the part time hours would be in the afternoons until 7 p.m. Some weekends and overnights. (Full time live-in position would involve weekends and overnight with scheduled time off/vacations etc.
