  • Part-time, Contract Position Summary The Adult Day Direct Care Staff member provides compassionate, hands-on assistance and supervision to participants attending the Adult Day Services program.
Staff support participants with activities of daily living, social engagement, safety monitoring, recreational activities, meal assistance, and emotional support in a safe and welcoming environment. This position plays a key role in promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities participating in the program. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesParticipant Care & Support Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Toileting and incontinence care Mobility and transfers Grooming and hygiene assistance Feeding and meal support Provide supervision and ensure participant safety at all times Observe participants for changes in condition, mood, or behavior and report concerns promptly to supervisory staff or nursing staff Maintain participant dignity, privacy, and confidentiality Program Activities Assist with group activities, games, exercise programs, music, crafts, and social events Encourage participant engagement and social interaction Help prepare activity areas and maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere Support outdoor walks and supervised recreational activities as appropriate Meals & Nutrition Assist with meal and snack setup and cleanup Monitor participant eating and hydration Follow dietary restrictions and special instructions as directed Transportation Assistance Assist participants during arrival and departure Provide safe assistance with entering and exiting vehicles when needed Escort participants within the facility safely Documentation & Communication Document services provided and participant observations as required Communicate professionally with participants, families, coworkers, and healthcare professionals Participate in staff meetings and required trainings Safety & Infection Control Follow all Arbor Health Services policies and procedures Adhere to infection prevention and hand hygiene protocols Respond appropriately to emergencies and participant incidents Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, dementia care, or healthcare settings preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medication Aide (MA), or caregiving experience preferred but not required Compassionate, dependable, and patient personality Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and underserved communities Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to lift, transfer, and assist participants safely Requirements Successful background check Nebraska Adult and Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry clearance Valid driver's license or government-issued ID CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Completion of required orientation and training programs Ability to comply with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements Preferred Skills Experience with dementia or memory care Bilingual or multilingual abilities Experience in adult day services, home care, assisted living, or nursing facilities Familiarity with Medicaid Waiver populations Work Environment Adult Day Services center environment Frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting participants Interaction with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and participants with cognitive impairment
