Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Specialist to empower individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities and other challenges to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance, foster positive behavior, and promote community engagement. Your dedication will help enhance the quality of life for those you support, ensuring they receive respectful, person-centered care in a safe and nurturing environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day through direct support and caregiving. Duties Assist individuals with daily living activities (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation Support behavioral health needs through positive behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques Facilitate communication using skills Help individuals participate in community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote independence and social skills Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service delivery to ensure effective care planning and reporting De-escalate aggressive behaviors using reinforcement techniques as Evershine is a no restraint facility. Skills Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or other disabilities in home or community settings Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health practices Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, team members, and community partners Ability to perform caregiving tasks with patience, empathy, and professionalism Knowledge of behavior management techniques to support positive outcome Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and TB test.
