Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. In this role, you will assist clients with daily activities, encourage independence, and help maintain a safe, supportive environment at home and in the community. The ideal candidate is patient, communicative, and genuinely committed to improving the lives of others. Experience in behavioral health, special education, or caregiving is highly valued. Core Responsibilities Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Support clients during community outings, appointments, and recreational activities. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs. Collect and document data related to client progress and service delivery. Administer medications according to prescribed guidelines, when applicable. Provide emotional support and encourage positive social interaction. Use effective communication methods, including American Sign Language when applicable. Maintain a safe environment by following established safety protocols and best practices. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to support personalized care plans. Help clients build life skills that promote greater independence. Transportation Duties Safely transport clients to medical appointments, work, and community or recreational activities. Assist clients with boarding, securing mobility devices, and exiting vehicles as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and properly operating agency or personal vehicle in accordance with company and state safety standards. Support clients during emergency evacuations or hazardous situations while in transit. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and behavioral health principles. Experience in special education or home and community-based care is a plus. Ability to assist with ADLs while providing compassionate, person-centered care. Transportation and Certification Requirements Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass periodic motor vehicle checks. • Reliable, insured personal transportation, if use of a personal vehicle is required for client transport. • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and state-mandated driving or transportation certifications. Some requirements may be flexible depending on experience and qualifications.

$15.00 per hour
