Job Description

Do you enjoy spending time with the elderly population? Do you enjoy doing crafts? This could be the perfect job for you if you answered yes to these questions. We are looking for an energetic, fun loving, caring person to enjoy doing activities with our patients, Under the supervision of the Center Manager (RN) and day-to-day direction by the Total Senior Care Lead Aide, provides assistance and attendant care to participants in the Total Senior Care day center. Provides assistance with personal care, food service, recreational programming, activities of daily living (ADL's) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in providing service to frail elderly participants according to assigned responsibilities and care plan. Adheres to the care plan and receives guidance, direction and supervision appropriate to the care setting. Provides participants with a continuity of quality care while at the day center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a personal care aide training program approved by the State of New York or approved equivalency test. Alternate training includes completion of a home health aide program or a certified nurse's aid program. Experience as a homemaker, personal care aide, home health aide or nursing assistant is desirable. One year experience working with the frail elderly. Ability to assist with personal care at the center, including wheelchair and ambulatory transfer between center and van. Ability to lift a minimum of twenty (20) pounds, perform one person transfer under routine and emergency situations, and able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, pull, climb, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements of the upper extremities. Ability to demonstrate skills and equipment competencies upon hire, and annually thereafter. Interdisciplinary teamwork, ability to work effectively with culturally, economically and educationally diverse populations, and form positive inter personal relations in dealing with a wide range of staff and participants essential. Acceptable driver's license and automobile available for use, with current insurance, preferred.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm 30 hours per week
