Full Job Description Summary:
The primary goal of a Sanctuary Shelter Residential Aide is to ensure the safety, well-being, and support of the sanctuary residents. Creates a safe and supportive environment for sanctuary residents. This position involves working closely with residents to address their immediate needs, provide emotional support and assist with day to day tasks.This position reports directly to:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists with the intake process for new residents, including paperwork, orientation to sanctuary rules and resources, and distribution of essential items like bedding, hygiene kits, etc. Assists with the day to day functioning of the sanctuary, including meal distribution, cleanliness, laundry, and maintaining common areas. Works collaboratively with other sanctuary staff, including social workers, case managers and security personnel to ensure a holistic approach to resident support. Monitors the sanctuary premises to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents and staff. Responds promptly to any emergencies, conflicts, or incidents following established protocols. Provides immediate support to residents in crisis situations such as emotional distress, medical emergencies or conflicts. Follows established protocols for handling crises. Mediates minor disputes among residents and promotes a harmonious living environment. Escalate larger concerns or conflicts to appropriate higher level staff. Connects residents with available social services, medical assistance, mental health resources and job training programs based on their individual needs. Maintain accurate and confidential records of resident interactions, incidents, and any services provided. Completes necessary documentation as required by sanctuary policies. Organize and facilitate activities that promote a sense of community among residents. Encourage residents to engage in positive interactions and peer support.QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years' experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Empathy, patience and a non-judgmental attitude toward diverse populations. Basic knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Obtain Food Handlers certification within the first 90 days of employmentOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation and problem-solving functions of this role. Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required. Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented. Remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude. Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision. Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems. Team player with a "can do" attitude that can work in a fast-paced environment.
