Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), where you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities, developmental challenges, or health needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this energetic and rewarding role, you will provide compassionate care, assist with daily activities, and promote a safe and supportive environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help enhance the quality of life for those you serve, fostering independence and dignity every day. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences, while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas. Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties in living spaces, common areas, and personal care zones. Document care activities accurately in resident records and assist in developing or updating personalized care plans. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering social interaction and engagement within the community setting. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer's and memory care), hospice care, and working with individuals with autism or disabilities. Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, or equivalent are required; ongoing training is encouraged. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks such as transferring residents using Hoyer lifts. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams, residents, families, and community partners.
