Direct Support Staff

Job Summary The DSP will provide dedicated 1:1 support to an individual with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) who uses a wheelchair and has a seizure disorder. This position focuses primarily on supporting the individual in community-based activities while promoting independence, safety, socialization, and meaningful participation in daily life. Responsibilities include assisting with mobility, personal care as needed, monitoring for seizure activity, implementing seizure protocols, transporting and accompanying the individual to community outings, recreational activities, volunteer opportunities, and other preferred events. The DSP will encourage community engagement, build positive relationships, provide emotional and behavioral support, and ensure the individual's health, safety, and dignity at all times both in the facility and throughout the community. Strong communication skills, patience, reliability, and the ability to work independently in community settings are essential for this role. Responsibilities Must be 21 years old, a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Completion of all required state and agency trainings Ability to safely transport individuals in agency vehicles Ability to respond appropriately during medical emergencies, including seizures High school diploma or GED preferred Experience working with individuals with IDD preferred

Pay:

$16.50 - $17.00 per hour
