About Us The Agape School is a warm, nurturing early childhood center serving children from infancy through school age. We are creating a sensory room to support children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing needs, behavioral needs, developmental delays, and children who may benefit from a calm, structured space to regulate, reset, and thrive. We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and dependable Personal Care Assistant/Sensory Room Support Staff to assist children in the sensory room and throughout the school day as needed. Position Summary The PCA will work directly with children who need additional support with social-emotional development, sensory regulation, transitions, classroom participation, and daily routines. This role is ideal for someone who is calm, loving, flexible, and passionate about helping children feel safe, supported, and successful. Training & Commitment Training will be provided by a Behavior Specialist to ensure the PCA is equipped with strategies to support children with sensory, behavioral, and developmental needs. Due to the importance of consistency, relationship-building, and ongoing support for the children, we are seeking a candidate who is willing to make a two-year commitment to this position. Professional Growth Opportunity This role may be a great starting point for someone interested in growing in the behavioral support field. Based on performance, reliability, completed training, qualifications, and center needs, there may be future opportunities to grow toward a Behavioral Therapist or other behavioral support role. Responsibilities Include Support children using the sensory room in a safe and purposeful way Assist children with sensory regulation, calming strategies, and transitions Provide one-on-one or small-group support as needed Help children participate safely in classroom activities Follow individualized support plans when applicable Communicate observations, concerns, and progress to leadership and classroom teachers Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sensory room environment Encourage positive behavior, independence, and emotional growth Use patience, kindness, redirection, and supportive communication Assist with daily routines, including meals, toileting, outdoor play, and classroom transitions when needed Help create a calm, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with young children is preferred. Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, behavioral needs, or developmental delays is strongly preferred. Candidate must be willing to complete training provided by a Behavior Specialist and obtain all required childcare clearances. Preferred Qualifications PCA, paraprofessional, childcare, behavioral health, ABA, or special education experience preferred Coursework or certification in early childhood education, special education, psychology, behavioral health, ABA, or a related field is a plus CPR/First Aid preferred or willingness to complete Must be open to learning behavior support strategies and sensory regulation techniques Must be patient, nurturing, reliable, and professional Must be able to follow directions and work as part of a team Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has a heart for children and understands that behavior is communication. We are looking for someone who can remain calm, loving, and supportive during challenging moments while helping children build confidence, independence, and emotional regulation skills. Schedule Monday-Friday Hours may vary based on center needs. Pay Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
