Direct Care Worker

Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Workers to provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs in various care settings. Responsibilities Assist residents and clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability. Administer medications accurately following prescribed instructions and maintain detailed documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Support individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia by implementing behavior management strategies and engaging in meaningful activities. Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely to facilitate transfers and prevent injury. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning resident areas and common spaces. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop personalized care plans that promote independence and well-being. Provide transportation when necessary for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety at all times. Support residents' emotional needs through active listening, companionship, and engagement in social activities within group home or retirement community settings. Experience Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of long-term care practices including Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia support, and senior care is essential. Proven ability to assist with ADLs, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and behavior management techniques. Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes is preferred. Experience operating mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts or similar equipment is advantageous. Background working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges demonstrates strong caregiving skills. Prior group home experience or personal care home work provides valuable insight into resident-centered support strategies.
