Daily Money Manager Personal Financial Manager Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Daily Money Manager/Financial caregiver to assist individuals and families manage their daily financial organization. Daily money managers act as financial advocates. This is not an accounting job or an investment management job! The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of personal finance, budgeting, and office software, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with clients. We are looking for someone who is interested in growing into a leadership role. This is a part-time position which is conducted in one's home office and clients' residences. Schedule is flexible during business hours on weekdays. Candidates should reside in Montgomery County, MD or Washington, DC and be willing to drive throughout MoCo and NW DC. Many fields are useful background, including social work, law, bookkeeping, accounting, finance, insurance, financial planning, health policy, teaching and others. Volunteer work, particularly involving individual advocacy, is also relevant. As you can see on our website, we help with:
Bill Payment and Record Keeping:
Manage bill payment processes on behalf of clients, ensuring that all bills are paid on time and accurately. Maintain organized financial records, including digital and physical files.
Financial Caregiver:
Serve as a trusted financial advocate for clients, helping them make informed financial decisions. Liaise with insurers, financial institutions, creditors, and service providers on behalf of clients to resolve financial issues.
Personal Financial Management:
Review and categorize financial statements, bills, and receipts to ensure accurate financial records. Assist clients in managing cash flow, planning for future expenses, and maintaining budget. Organize financial records for tax preparation. Client Safety from
Fraud and Abuse:
Implement strategies to protect clients from fraud, identity theft, and financial abuse. Monitor financial transactions for irregularities and promptly address any suspicious activity. Educate clients on common scams and best practices for online and offline financial security.
Health Insurance Management:
Assist in tracking and managing healthcare-related expenses, including medical bills, insurance claims, and prescription costs. Monitor need for changes to health insurance plans.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients based on trust and confidentiality. Regularly communicate with clients and their families to provide updates on financial matters, address any questions or concerns, and provide referrals to other service providers.
Qualifications:
Professional experience in a position involving determining course of action, decision making, setting priorities. At least ten years professional experience is preferred. Experience in personal financial management, bookkeeping, advocacy, social work, or another professional position. Broad life experience is helpful. Work, volunteer, or family experience working one on one with people, and advocating for people. Bachelor's degree. Strong knowledge of personal finance, personal finance software. Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills. Proficiency in office and financial software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, Quicken, and CRM. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including with senior citizens and people with disabilities. Ethical and trustworthy with a high degree of professionalism and discretion. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing client needs. Sensitivity and compassion when working with vulnerable populations. Ten years of professional experience in a position involving self-direction and problem solving. • This is a part-time hourly position which will initially have fewer than 20 hours. The number of hours will increase with caseload and vary over time.
Pay:
$34.00 - $37.00 per hour
Position Type:
Part Time Expected hours: 25 - 35 per week once client caseload reaches that level. Candidate must be available during business hours weekdays and be willing to work part-time at least 25 hours per week.
