Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking compassionate and energetic Direct Support Staff to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling and independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance, foster a supportive environment, and promote the well-being of residents across various care settings. Your dedication will help enhance quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors requiring memory care, or those in assisted living and home care environments. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day through active caregiving and community engagement. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure residents' health stability Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional planning to promote healthy living Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease Maintain a clean and safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks in personal and common areas Drive residents to appointments or community outings safely while adhering to all transportation safety guidelines Document observations related to resident health status, behavior changes, or incidents promptly and thoroughly Requirements Prior experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes is highly preferred Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general Certification or training in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in emergency response is a plus Ability to work effectively with EMR systems for documentation purposes Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals Valid driver's license for transportation duties; clean driving record preferred Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks including lifting using Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed Join us in making a positive impact by providing compassionate support that empowers individuals to thrive!
