Transportation Requirements:
Valid driver's license required. Reliable personal transportation required. Ability to travel throughout Aiken and surrounding service areas. Must maintain automobile insurance meeting South Carolina requirements. Mileage reimbursement provided for approved business travel in accordance with company policy. The Caregiver will provide compassionate in-home care services to clients, assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping, while ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Caregivers help maintain a clean and safe environment and provide emotional support to clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Reports to: Supervisor/Home Care Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Follows the client's individualized care plan and provides safe, competent, and compassionate care. Assists clients with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting needs. Assist with preparing and/or setting up nutritious meals if necessary. Provides assistance with ambulation and mobility, including the use of assistive devices. Encourages clients to maintain independence and participate in activities of interest. Provides emotional support and companionship, fostering trust and a positive relationship. Observes and reports changes in the client's physical or mental condition to the supervisor promptly. Performs light housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment. Assists clients with errands, appointments, and transportation as needed (if applicable). Documents care provided and maintains accurate daily logs and visit records. Participates in in-service training and staff meetings as required.
Requirements:
Ability to effectively communicate (speaking, understanding, reading, and writing) in English. Patience, compassion, and understanding of elderly and disabled clients. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong observational skills and attention to detail in reporting changes in client condition. Basic knowledge of safe food handling, infection control, and universal precautions.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience as a caregiver, home health aide, or in a related field preferred. Completion of relevant caregiver training or certification (where required by state regulations).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift or move clients up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to provide care and operate necessary equipment.
