Job Description

General Responsibilities:
To provide daily care and supervision for residents of Wayne Halfway House, Inc. Programs, following all criteria set by the State of Tennessee Department of Children's Services and Wayne Halfway House, Inc.
Duties:
  • Monitor and support all residents' scheduled treatment, services, and/or activities.
  • Ensure/transport (when needed) residents to all external appointments in a timely fashion.
  • Supervise/monitor residents for a save environment while completing assigned tasks.
  • Assist in facilitation of room transfers/swaps.
  • Complete incident reports and communicate them to the Director; participate in reporting and handling of crisis situations.
  • Clean rooms upon discharge of residents.
  • Document daily activities of each resident in the home.
  • Collect trash in the house and dispose of trash in designated area.
  • Work with Directors to manage various program activities.
  • Conduct 15-minute rounds of the house on third shift; first/second shift rounds are conducted hourly.
  • Assist with room inspections/search.
  • Enforce rules and regulations for residents and visitors.
  • Provide timely, effective non-violent supportive responses to residents' emergencies.
  • Orient and assist new residents in their adjustment to the home.
  • Be security-minded and cognizant of the residents and the home needs; encourage/instruct residents in the practice of proper hygiene and health habits.
  • Conduct initial intake on new residents coming into the home and inventory all personal belongings; address immediate needs of new residents upon contact.
  • Supervise distribution of supplies, and cleaning of the home.
  • Prepare/plate/serve all meals and supervise mealtimes.
  • Establish good rapport with the residents.
  • Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and PQI.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain discipline following State and Federal guidelines.
  • Follow all applicable Policies and Procedures of Wayne Halfway House, Inc.
and apply home guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Youth Service Officer must be at least 19 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED. One year of experience is preferred.
