House Mom (Part-Time Live-In) Hope House of Tennessee Nashville, Tennessee About Hope House Hope House of Tennessee is a faith-based residential program serving pregnant and parenting young women ages 16 - 22 and their children. Our mission is to provide safe housing, practical support, life skills development, educational and career encouragement, and spiritual care that empowers young families to build stable, independent futures. We believe every young mother deserves a safe place to live, caring relationships, and the support needed to thrive as both a parent and an individual. Position Summary Hope House is seeking a compassionate, mature, and mission-driven House Mom to serve as a consistent, caring presence within our residential program. The House Mom will help create a safe, structured, Christ-centered environment where young mothers and their children can flourish. This is a unique part-time live-in position that includes a private apartment on the Hope House campus as the employee's permanent residence. The apartment is separate from resident living spaces while still allowing the House Mom to be an accessible and supportive presence within the home. The House Mom will work a rotating schedule of seven consecutive days on-duty followed by seven consecutive days off-duty. During off-duty weeks, the House Mom will continue to reside in the provided apartment but will not be responsible for resident supervision, programming, or on-call responsibilities. To ensure continuous support for residents, a second House Mom will serve during alternating weeks. During her assigned week, the second House Mom will reside in a separate bedroom adjacent to the apartment. The two House Moms will share a common living area while maintaining separate private sleeping quarters. The House Mom serves as a mentor, encourager, role model, and support person for residents while partnering with Hope House staff to maintain a healthy, stable, and nurturing home environment. Essential Responsibilities Resident Support & Mentorship Build trusting, supportive relationships with residents. Encourage residents as they pursue educational, vocational, parenting, and personal goals. Provide guidance, accountability, and encouragement through daily interactions. Model healthy communication, conflict resolution, and relationship skills. Help residents navigate challenges and celebrate milestones. Foster confidence, resilience, and independence in each resident. Household Presence & Community Building Create a warm, welcoming, and family-oriented atmosphere within the home. Maintain a visible and approachable presence during on-duty weeks. Encourage respect, cooperation, and healthy relationships among residents. Assist with household routines and daily structure. Support residents in maintaining cleanliness and organization in shared spaces. Help create an environment where both mothers and children feel safe and valued. Parenting Support Encourage healthy parent-child relationships. Provide practical parenting support and coaching when appropriate. Assist young mothers in developing confidence and competence in their parenting skills. Support age-appropriate child development and family routines. Encourage positive discipline and nurturing caregiving practices. Daily Household Operations During on-duty weeks, the House Mom will: Assist with morning and evening household routines. Help monitor adherence to house expectations and program guidelines. Identify household needs and communicate concerns to Hope House leadership. Assist with transportation coordination as needed. Support meal planning, household organization, and community-building activities. Help maintain a calm, orderly, and supportive residential environment. Crisis Response & Support Respond calmly and appropriately to resident concerns and emergencies. Provide emotional support and stability during difficult situations. Communicate significant concerns to appropriate Hope House staff members. Maintain appropriate documentation and reporting as required. Help de-escalate conflicts and support healthy problem-solving. Spiritual Encouragement Model Christian character and values through daily interactions. Encourage residents in their spiritual growth. Participate in Bible studies, devotionals, and faith-based activities as appropriate. Help cultivate a Christ-centered culture within the home. Pray with and encourage residents when welcomed and appropriate. Team Collaboration Maintain regular communication with Hope House leadership and staff. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program activities as requested. Collaborate with case managers, mentors, volunteers, counselors, and other support personnel. Contribute to a unified and supportive care environment for residents. Schedule & Living Arrangement On-Duty Week Seven consecutive days serving as the primary residential presence within the home. Maintain regular availability throughout the day and evening. Respond to resident needs and emergencies that arise during assigned weeks. Participate in household life and community activities. Off-Duty Week Seven consecutive days off from House Mom responsibilities. Continue residing in the provided apartment. No supervisory, programming, or on-call responsibilities during off weeks unless otherwise arranged. Another House Mom will assume primary responsibility for the home during this period. Housing Arrangement Permanent residence in a private apartment located on the Hope House campus. Apartment is separate from resident living spaces. Shared common living area with the alternate House Mom. Separate private sleeping quarters for each House Mom. Utilities and housing expenses covered by Hope House. Designed to provide both personal privacy and seamless continuity of care for residents. Qualifications Required Demonstrated Christian faith and agreement with the mission and values of Hope House. Passion for serving vulnerable young women and children. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to maintain healthy boundaries while providing compassionate support. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm and effective during challenging situations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Experience in residential ministry, social services, counseling, education, childcare, foster care, mentoring, or related fields. Experience working with teenagers or young adults. Experience supporting families in crisis or transition. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Physical Requirements Ability to navigate stairs and move throughout a residential home. Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond to emergencies and actively engage with residents and children. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience. Private apartment provided as permanent housing.
