Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver for the Elderly to provide exceptional support and companionship to seniors in various care settings. In this vital role, you will assist residents with daily activities, ensure their safety and well-being, and promote a warm, respectful environment. Your energy and positive attitude will help enhance the quality of life for those in your care, making a meaningful difference every day. This position offers an opportunity to work in diverse environments such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, retirement communities, or home care settings. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to track health status. Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols while maintaining detailed documentation using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques. Support residents' nutritional needs by preparing meals that meet dietary restrictions and assisting with feeding when required. Engage residents in social activities and meaningful interactions to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning resident areas and common spaces. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop personalized care plans tailored to individual needs. Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury and promote independence. Drive residents when necessary for appointments or outings while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications Prior experience in senior care, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care is highly desirable. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care techniques, and behavior management strategies. Certification or training in First Aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training is encouraged. Familiarity with EMR systems for accurate documentation of resident information and care activities. Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities in group home or personal care home settings. Strong communication skills to interact empathetically with residents, families, and team members. Valid driver's license preferred for driving residents safely when needed.
