Forney, TX Job Details Full-time $14.00 - $16.75 an hour 12 hours ago Benefits Referral program Qualifications Computer operation Spanish Computer literacy Writing skills High school diploma or GED Driver's License Working with children Conflict management Productivity software Crisis intervention counseling Full Job Description Minimum Qualifications Direct Care Staff Must possess a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with troubled children as a paraprofessional, volunteer, or intern in a social service, residential, educational, or institutional setting; OR Must possess at least two (2) years of college credit (minimum 30 semester hours) and one (1) year of experience working with troubled children. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with coworkers, medical personnel, and other individuals necessary to meet children's needs. Must demonstrate basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned duties. Must demonstrate competency, prudent judgment, and self-control when working with children. Must possess strong organizational, writing, analytical, and documentation skills. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to perform conflict resolution and crisis intervention. Must demonstrate cultural competency and the ability to work with a diverse population. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must pass drug screening, criminal background checks, and all other required clearances. Essential Responsibilities Serve as a positive adult mentor and role model for all children while respecting boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality. Supervise, support, transport, and encourage assigned children. Provide continuous supervision appropriate to each child's level of need, including auditory and/or visual awareness. Intervene as necessary to ensure each child's safety and well-being. Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), hygiene, meals, homework, and life-skills development. Prepare and/or assist with preparation of breakfast, lunch, and dinner as assigned. Perform deep cleaning, laundry, and general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe facility. Be knowledgeable of each child's habits, interests, behavioral needs, medical needs, and service plan goals. Provide daily documentation, progress notes, incident reports, and medication distribution as assigned. Maintain accurate and timely client records in accordance with agency and licensing standards. Assist in developing and implementing goal-oriented service plans. Share relevant information with incoming staff at shift change to ensure continuity of care. Provide crisis intervention consistent with agency policies and procedures. Conduct frequent bed checks during overnight shifts and remain awake and alert throughout the shift. Notify the LCCA and Team Leader of all significant observations, incidents, or concerns. Establish helping relationships with clients using clinically directed concepts and interventions as trained. Prepare and submit well-organized reports within required timelines. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of client and program operations. Maintain professional and ethical conduct at all times. Attend and participate in required trainings, workshops, and in-services. Comply with agency policies, program procedures, contract requirements, and all applicable Licensing Standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader that do not interfere with direct childcare responsibilities.
