Plainview Serenity Center Inc. is a non-profit organization providing substance abuse services to men, women, and women with children for over 25 years. We are currently seeking responsible Direct Care Staff in our Plainview locations. Direct Care Staff are responsible for providing therapeutic assistance to clients currently in residential substance abuse treatment. Plainview Serenity Center Inc. is a drug free workplace and equal opportunity employer.Essential Functions:
Assist in creating and maintaining a trauma informed environment for substance abuse clients. Maintains adequate security for eating/sleeping problems, Assists residents in good grooming and personal hygiene. Monitors client's movement through the shift and provides a client count as per facility policy. Transport residents to medical clinics, legal and employment locations, and other approved outings. Direct Care Staff will be responsible for ensuring safety, provide therapeutic assistance and appropriate measures monitoring residents inside and outside the facility. Maintains locked doors as per facility policy, making security checks to ensure that the integrity of security is in place to ensure that the safety of clients is always maintained. Document Incident reports, Work Orders, Daily Logs, and other monitoring reports and referring any problems the proper staff. Maintains awareness of all approved passes, incident reports, medication logs, etc. of clients always. Maintaining awareness of any daily disruption or any client disruptive behavior as soon as sign of disruptive behavior are recognized and applying appropriate intervention. Performs housekeeping duties such as assisting with washing bedding, cleaning towels, throwing trash, and monitoring that all areas are kept in place as per facility policy. Monitors client chores consisting of general cleaning of physical surroundings and furnishings in client living area, dining area, activity area, and classroom areas. Maintains a neat and clean employee station area. Assist clinical treatment team staff with groups in therapeutic activities by monitoring clients and ensuring that treatment schedule is followed. Assists with the admissions and discharge process, including orientation to rules and rights, bed, and locker assignments, issuing linens, and inventory of personal items as needed. Direct Care Staff will also complete duties assigned to include disinfecting bed and lockers, inventory of personal items, and ensuring all property is returned once the client is discharged. Answers phone and transfers call or takes messages as needed. Continuously monitor health, security, and wellbeing of clients by ensuring facility is secure and residents are off the floor and in rooms at appropriate times. Perform head count nightly as per licensing standards, complete reports of nightly rounds, investigate and complete related reports on all safety and security situations and communicate emergency situations, including medical emergencies, to the appropriate authorities and staff members. Serve meals and ensure standards are met for all food service operations. Perform weekly inspections on vehicles, including checking oil, tire pressure, gas, etc., record results, record mileage, and prepare standard maintenance reports. Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to supervisor. Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the non-exempt functions as defined in this job description.Qualifications for the position:

Knowledge of security operations and safety practices. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and residents. Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures. Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. Ability to work night shifts and flexible hours.
