Full Job Description TITLE:
Legacy Builder (Direct Care Staff) FUNCTION
To provide direct support, guidance, supervision, and positive engagement for youth while maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment. STATUS:
Full-Time or Part-Time Employee (Non-Exempt) QUALIFICATIONS
: Must be at least 21 years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working with youth in residential, educational, childcare, mentoring, or community-based settings preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must be able to pass required background checks. Must possess strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful situations. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned duties. Ability to work effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Support & Engagement Build positive, healthy relationships with youth through mentoring, encouragement, and consistency. Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate professional behavior at all times. Assist youth with daily living skills, personal responsibility, homework, goal setting, and independent living preparation. Encourage positive decision-making and personal growth. Support youth during recreational, educational, and community activities. Safety & Supervision Maintain awareness of youth whereabouts and activities at all times. Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Follow all safety procedures and agency policies. Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns, conflicts, and crisis situations. Document and report incidents according to agency requirements. Daily Operations Assist with transportation for appointments, school activities, recreation, and community outings. Assist with household cleaning duties, routines, and daily schedules. Participate in shift-change communication to ensure continuity of care. Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly. Meal Preparation & Household Responsibilities Assist with meal planning, grocery organization, meal preparation, serving meals, and kitchen clean-up. Encourage youth participation in age-appropriate cooking and life-skills activities. Ensure food safety and sanitation practices are followed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, vehicles, and outdoor spaces. Promote pride in maintaining a clean and respectful living environment. Activities & Recreation Plan, coordinate, and participate in approved indoor and outdoor activities. Engage youth in sports, games, fitness activities, arts and crafts, educational projects, life-skills activities, and community events. Participate in activities that are safe, appropriate, and within staff comfort and ability levels. Encourage youth engagement and healthy social interaction. Documentation & Compliance Complete daily logs, progress notes, medication documentation, and incident reports as required. Maintain confidentiality of all youth and program information. Comply with all licensing standards, agency policies, and program procedures. Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities. Administer medications as trained, authorized, and delegated in accordance with physician orders, licensing standards, and agency policy. Accurately document all medication administration in the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Maintain proper storage, security, and confidentiality of medications. Monitor youth for medication side effects and report concerns promptly. Ensure all medication documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within required timelines. DISCLOSURE
