Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our team in Chesapeake, VA 23324. This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities by providing personalized, respectful, and attentive care. As a PCA, you will support residents with daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration following proper protocols Monitor residents' vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer's and dementia care strategies Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas through light cleaning duties Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and report any concerns to supervising staff Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to promote mental well-being Support residents during outings or community activities by providing transportation if qualified to drive Requirements Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments preferred Knowledge of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or memory impairments such as Alzheimer's or dementia Certification or training in first aid and CPR is highly desirable Ability to assist with ADLs and use care equipment like Hoyer lifts safely and effectively Strong communication skills to interact empathetically with residents and team members Valid driver's license if driving is part of the role; clean driving record preferred Experience working with EMR systems for documentation purposes Demonstrated ability to handle behavioral management techniques when caring for residents with special needs Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends or holidays as needed Rotating weekends Join us in creating a warm, supportive environment where every resident feels valued and cared for.
