Job Description
Job Summary The Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional (QDDP) plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism and other behavioral health needs. This dedicated professional collaborates with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that promote independence, safety, and overall well-being. The QDDP ensures compliance with all regulatory standards while fostering a positive, empowering environment for those served. This role is essential in guiding individuals through daily activities, behavioral management strategies, and community integration efforts to enhance their quality of life. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans tailored to each person's unique needs and goals. Provide direct support to individuals by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, feeding, and mobility. Conduct behavioral assessments and apply behavior management techniques to promote positive behaviors. Collect and document data related to progress, behaviors, medication administration, and other relevant metrics accurately and consistently. Facilitate communication using various methods including American Sign Language (ASL) when applicable, ensuring effective interaction with individuals with communication challenges. Support community-based activities, outings, and home care routines to foster independence and social engagement. Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict safety standards. Collaborate with families, caregivers, social workers, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and update progress regularly. Maintain compliance with state regulations and agency policies through accurate record-keeping and documentation. Drive clients safely to appointments or community activities as needed while adhering to all driving safety standards. Requirements Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related behavioral health conditions. Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with home & community care practices and assisting clients with ADLs in various settings. Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language preferred but not required. Ability to perform data collection accurately for progress tracking and reporting purposes. Experience in medication administration following proper procedures is highly desirable. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to transport clients safely when necessary. Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with diverse populations including children and adults with disabilities. Flexibility to adapt to changing needs of individuals served while maintaining a positive attitude.
