Job Description

Job Summary:
CBRF Resident Assistants provide support to residents with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, socialization, and enhancement of cognitive and physical health.
Benefit Package:

Sign On Bonus Medical Duties/Responsibilities:
Help residents with daily living, which might include: using the toilet, bathing and washing, dressing, shaving, clipping fingernails, cooking, and serving food Maintaining cleanliness of residents' room and work areas Assist with other tasks such as recreational and social activities for residents Provide physical assistance to residents who have limited mobility by helping them walk or transporting them in wheelchairs Helping residents maintain independence, promoting dignity and physical safety of each resident Engaging residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities Perform administrative tasks such as: answering phones, greeting visitors, and complete documentation of care and assistance that transpired during their shift Follow the company's dress code, caregiver's misconduct, and attendance policy Absences and tardiness will not be tolerated within the 90-day probation period when hired with Open Arms Assisted Living.

Ability to communicate effectively with Residents, management, and co-workers Superior customer service skills Ability to handle multiple priorities Reliable and dependable with attendance and punctuality Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to make independent decisions without supervision Ability to interact tactfully with residents and family members, team members and general public Ability to make decisions in stressful situations Ability to communicate directions to all levels of team members, both in writing and verbally Possesses good character and displays high degree of personal integrity. Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of other people and their families Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Must be able to recognize condition changes of a resident and be able to report this immediately to management Must be able to complete fifteen hours of training related to medication administration, resident's rights, diabetes, first aid, health, safety, and welfare of residents, standard precautions, and fire and safety within six months of their hire date. After the fifteen hours of training, resident assistants will have to complete yearly eight hours of training to keep their position at Open Arms Assisted Living.
Education and Experience:
Must have the following CBRF certifications verifiable through the
Wisconsin Training Registry:
Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, First Aid & Choking, Medication Administration & Management Previous experience working with residential care required
Preferred:
High school diploma or equivalent One-year related experience preferred
Work Environment:
Works throughout the residential home Work is generally performed indoors in an environmentally controlled building Subject to frequent interruptions Potential for exposure to infectious organisms, blood and other body fluids, other hazardous waste materials, dust, unpleasant odors, loud and unpleasant noises, and bodily injury Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, other staff members Subject to emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors at times Gloves along with other PPE devices (gowns, masks/eye protection) may be used and are available should the need arise
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing/walking Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds occasionally Frequently kneels, bends, squats, climbs, and reaches Must be able to move frequently throughout the workday Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability Must be able to assist with the evacuation of residents in the event of an emergency

May work during regular business hours, weekends or overnight, and can work full-time or part-time hours. Since assisted living homes provide 24-hour care to residents, some Resident Assistants may need to be flexible and able to work irregular hours if additional coverage during overnight hours, holidays or weekends is needed.
