Respite Worker

Respite Provider - Waukesha, WI (Monday-Thursday) Summary Bridging Gapss is a compassionate community-based organization committed to empowering children and families with emotional, mental, and physical support. As a certified provider of the Children's Long-Term Support (CLTS) waiver program, our mission is to help children with disabilities live fulfilling lives in their homes and communities. We are seeking a reliable and nurturing Respite Provider to join our team on a 1099 contract basis in Waukesha, WI . The purpose of this position is to provide short-term, temporary relief to primary caregivers by supporting children and youth with disabilities in a safe, structured, and engaging environment within the home or community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are typical for this position.

Provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for children and youth with disabilities. Supervise and interact with children in a positive, supportive manner. Assist with activities of daily living as needed, such as feeding, dressing, and mobility support. Create a calm and structured environment that aligns with the child's individual care plan. Support children with emotional disturbances using appropriate behavioral and coping strategies. Communicate effectively with families and report any concerns or changes in behavior. Document all respite services accurately using a laptop or computer , including time logs and progress notes. Support children in community integration activities as appropriate (e.g., going to the park, events, etc.). Promote independence and self-determination in youth through respectful and encouraging support. Ensure the safety and well-being of the child at all times. Follow all HIPAA, agency policies, and CLTS program guidelines. Minimum Training and Experience Must have

CBRF/CNA

certification . At least 1 year of experience working with children or individuals with disabilities, including those with emotional disturbances , preferred. Background in caregiving, child development, special education, or social services is a plus. Must be comfortable using a computer or laptop for documentation. Licensure and Requirements Must be 18 years or older. Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance . Must be available Monday through Thursday for 5-10 hour shifts. Must pass caregiver background check and any state-mandated training. Skills and Abilities Compassionate, patient, and dependable. Ability to build positive relationships with children and families. Strong communication and time management skills. Culturally competent and inclusive. Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations and respond effectively to behavioral challenges. Supervision This position does not supervise others. Physical Demands Must be able to lift, move, or assist with mobility (up to 30 lbs). Frequent standing, walking, bending, and playing with children. Travel for in-home or community-based services is required. Work Environment Work takes place in family homes or community settings in Waukesha, WI . May involve exposure to unpredictable environments or behaviors.
