This position does require travel. This role helps to provide homeless individuals and families with emergency or bridge housing. Helping to mitigate their vulnerabilities and reduce the risk of developing health conditions for those experiencing homelessness within the jurisdiction of the Housing Authority of the County of San Diego. This is a temporary opportunity. It is estiamted to last 2 and a half months.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting clients with eligibility and enrollment into the program Participate in homeless outreach events in encampments throughout the County of San Diego Assist in developing immediate solutions to emergency problems and expediting delivery of needed services Implement Housing First guidelines into your client care Provide trauma-informed care and utilize motivational interviewing when working with clients Have knowledge of the homeless community and County demographics Manage and maintain a revolving client caseload Organize, prioritize, and complete a large volume of work within strict time deadlines Provide weekly case management services Daily input of detailed and accurate client notes into database Refer clients to appropriate agencies for specialized services and/or counseling Provide and document referral services Arrange, coordinate, and monitor the delivery of individualized services to meet the needs of the program participant. Work with our clients experiencing homelessness to help place in immediate shelter (hotel/motels) and help overcome barriers or issues that affect their ability to obtain and retain housing and move toward self-sufficiency Develop action and housing stabilization plans with clients Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and clearly present and explain information persuasively to staff, agencies, property owners/managers, hotel/motel operators, and other service providers on behalf of clients. Establish effective working relationships with other staff, agencies, property owners/managers, hotel/motel operators, and other service providers on behalf of clients. Help arrange moves into permanent housing Maintain relationships with property managers involved in permanent housing voucher programs Attend weekly staff meetings Other duties as assigned
Details:
This position requires you to be in the Escondido office and travel in the community. Some work from options, as well. Reliable transportation is required. Valid driver's license required.
Experience/Skills Requirement:
Previous experience in working with the homeless population is strongly preferred Previous experience in case management preferred Minimum of one year related experience in social service Knowledge of Housing First model Strong customer service skills Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals at all levels, internally and externally. A high degree of professionalism and a strong work ethic coupled with a sense of responsibility and integrity required. Experience working with computers and typical office software such as Email, Word, Excel, and internet browsers.
Qualifications:
Minimum education requirement is a High School diploma/GED; Bachelor's degree is preferred Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel applications, as well as internet research skills required A valid California driver's license, in good standing, is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. In addition, proof of insurance is required prior to driving personal vehicles on company business.
