We have an extremely rich culture that includes strong values around diversity, community, courage, and relentlessness.
What we do:
Youth ALIVE! serves more than just young people. Although some of our programs are school based and focus on youth leadership development, we also provide community-based violence interruption, hospital-based intervention, mentoring, therapy and even opportunities to engage in advocacy work in order to impact legislation in response to community violence. Who we're looking for: Youth ALIVE! currently seeks a Bilingual Intervention Specialist to provide intensive case management and mentoring services by means of our hospital-based intervention program, Caught in the Crossfire . Caught in the Crossfire addresses both the urgent need for violence intervention and the ongoing service needs of survivors as they work to recover and confront the sometimes debilitating effects of their trauma. The time directly after violence erupts in a community is vital for determining what happens next. Youth Alive! staff meet with victims of violence at their hospital bedsides to convince them, their friends, and their family not to retaliate; and offer ongoing personal support focused on safety, healing, and growth. The Bilingual Intervention Specialist will conduct hospital and peer-based field visits and provide intensive follow-up services to individuals who have been hospitalized for violent injuries. Some work is performed in an office environment; but a great deal of work is performed in the community and requires visits to patients entering the hospital as a result of a violent crime.
