EXS/9 The expected pay for this position is $78,500.00 - $82,500.00 per year, in alignment with departmental equity and market data.Job Summary:
The Threat Assessment Case Manager reports to the Director of Behavioral Consultation Programs within Northwestern's Department of Safety and Security and engages in the process of behavioral threat assessment and management to prevent targeted violence. The Case Manager will triage initial information to identify matters that involve concerning, significantly disruptive, and/or threatening behaviors, which may suggest thoughts or plans for violence. The Case Manager will work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to gather additional information, assess levels of concern and situational urgency, and collaborate with university and community partners to consider appropriate mitigation strategies. The Case Manager will conduct threat assessment investigations and manage a caseload that may involve campus community members, including students, staff, faculty, and non-affiliated individuals. •Please note:This is an in-person position and will involve evening and weekend work. Specific Responsibilities:
Triage incoming reports of concerning, significantly disruptive, and/or threatening behavior in a timely manner to assess levels of concern and urgency, and use judgement to determine the appropriate response Gather pertinent information through interviews, review complex and/or voluminous reports, open-source intelligence, and other resources, using investigative and analytical skills to conduct non-clinical, indirect assessments for violence risk Present cases as a core member and/or host of weekly Behavioral Consultation Team (BCT) meetings, coordinate meeting agendas, and lead meetings in the Director's absence Partner and collaborate with members of the BCT and other faculty and staff to monitor progress and compliance with recommended strategies Employ a variety of management strategies that may include longitudinal monitoring of a situation and/or individual to determine appropriate next steps and/or when to close a threat assessment investigation Provide in-person or virtual BCT awareness training for campus community members and annual training for members of the BCT Accurately document threat assessment and management matters using the established case management system Develop knowledge of campus policies that are relevant to BCT matters Develop knowledge of laws including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Clery Act, as well as those governing sensitive records, and others that apply to the practice of behavioral threat assessment and management Strictly adhere to ethical standards for the practice of threat assessment Accept additional assignments when necessary, including policy and procedure review and development, database management, and others to be determined Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, behavioral health or related field At least two years in education, training, and/or work experience in behavioral threat assessment and management Experience working in time-sensitive, high-risk and/or crisis situations, and development of management strategies Demonstrated experience in providing in-person and virtual trainingMinimum Competencies:

Demonstrated knowledge of behaviors and other factors associated with violence risk and the ability to discern when to escalate matters Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with members of various University departments Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and in a group environment Maintain accurate documentation with attention to detail in content, spelling, and grammar Ability to meet deadlines, work with complex systems, balance priorities, and ensure a high level of accuracy in work producedPreferred Qualifications:
