Job Description

Company Overview We have a job perfect for someone wanting part time work or college students studying social work, psychology or related fields. Primarily weekend shifts, with other shifts sometimes available during the week. Safehope is dedicated to serving the communities of Marion, McPherson, and Harvey counties. Our mission is to provide essential support and advocacy for survivors and secondary victims affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Summary As a Shelter Support Advocate at Safehope, you will play a vital role in supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault residing at the Safehope Shelter. This position involves providing emotional support, case management, and resources to individuals seeking refuge in our shelter. Your contributions will help empower clients on their journey to safety and recovery. Responsibilities Answer the helpline and complete required documentation. Provide emotional support and advocacy for shelter residents. Care and cleaning of the shelter to create a safe and home-like atmosphere. Assist clients with case management services, including safety planning and resource navigation. Facilitate access to community resources such as healthcare, legal assistance, and counseling. Conduct intake assessments to determine client needs and appropriate services. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress in accordance with confidentiality guidelines. Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a safe and supportive environment within the shelter. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to trauma-informed care. Requirements Bachelor's degree or hours completed in social work or a related field preferred, High school degree or GED equivalent required. Experience in case management or social services is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Basic knowledge of first aid; certification is a plus. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy. Knowledge of computer and internet programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Apps.
