Part-time Housing Assistance Coordinator Background Central Louisville Community Ministries (CLCM) has been serving as a trusted advocate for and compassionate partner with our neighbors in need of emergency assistance in the central Louisville area for almost 60 years. We are focused on helping our neighbors access their basic needs and stay safely in their homes, thereby preventing homelessness. We are one of the 13 members of the Association of Community Ministries (ACM), a network unique in the nation for covering the entire Metro area. We provide emergency financial assistance with rent/mortgage and utilities and access to food, hygiene and household supplies, clothing, transportation, case management, and more. Position Summary With the support of the Assistant Director, staff, and volunteers, assesses client needs and eligibility, conducts client interviews for the emergency financial assistance program; maintains accurate client records; coordinates with partner churches, businesses and agencies; collects statistics and completes required documentation for all programs. This is a part time position for up to 16 hours per week on-site, Mon.-Thurs. 9am-1pm and reports to the Assistant Director.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Coordinates with the Intake Coordinator and the CLCM team to identify persons in need of financial assistance. 2. Verifies client need and eligibility for financial assistance. Understands and upholds the various grant requirements. 3. Conducts client interviews for financial assistance programs--developing a plan to best assist that individual with their housing needs—communicating with all relevant parties, providing information and referrals, and staying apprised of current grant funding and reporting requirements. Will cross-train on utilities assistance but primarily works with housing. 4. Works closely with local landlords and utility companies to determine payments required and advocates for clients. Delegates work to volunteers where appropriate. 5. Maintains all needed client records, financial records, and statistics in ClientTrack, spreadsheets, paper files, and other media. Keeps confidentiality of client information. 6. Assists with monthly reports for billing purposes in order to obtain reimbursements from funding sources. Completes required forms for special grant programs throughout the year. 7. Works with the Assistant Director to ensure budgeting of financial resources. 8. Attends required trainings and meetings of ACM Emergency Assistance workers. 9. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications •
Experience:
Demonstrated work experience in human services, social work, non-profit environment or similar. •
Education:
High School diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred. •
Skills:
Strong people skills in-person, online, and on the phone, proficiency in Google suite, comfort using online databases, ability to work digitally, strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent listening and problem-solving skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, understands and uses trauma-informed principles. •
Attributes:
This person must be flexible, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and organize. We are seeking a team member with a passion for working compassionately with our diverse neighbors facing difficult situations. • Physical requirements: must be able to move between office and client area many times a day. Compensation This is a part time hourly position for 16 hours/week at $17/hour, on-site Mon.-Thurs. 9am-1pm.
