Non-Exempt About the Organization Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless provides critical support to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the Plymouth community. Our mission is to offer safe shelter, case management, and re-housing services that empower participants to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. We are committed to compassionate, person-centered care and strong partnerships with local resources to make a lasting impact. Position Summary The Caseworker at our Emergency Assistance Homeless Shelter provides case management and supportive services to families experiencing homelessness. This role conducts client assessments, develops individualized service plans, connects participants to community resources, and collaborates with the Re-Housing Specialist to support stable housing, employment, and long-term self-sufficiency. This is a hands-on, in-person role with meaningful impact on the lives of families in our community. What You'll Do Conduct intakes, assessments, and develop individualized service plans Connect clients to housing, employment, healthcare, and supportive services Assist with benefits, documentation, and obtaining IDs Maintain accurate case records and monitor participant progress Provide ongoing support, counseling, and crisis intervention as needed Advocate for clients with service providers and agencies Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and training sessions Ensure compliance with shelter rules and maintain a safe environment Perform other duties as assigned by the
Site Manager Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or related field, or 2-5 years of equivalent direct care experience Valid driver's license Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and trauma
Preferred:
Experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations Proficiency in case management software and basic computer skills Skills & Knowledge Case management and service coordination Crisis intervention and advocacy Documentation and reporting Cultural competency and trauma-informed care Knowledge of housing resources and social service systems Work Schedule 32-40 hours per week; 8-hour shifts Shelter operates 7 days per week Weekday, evening, and weekend openings Rotating on-call schedule Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods Occasional assistance with facility tasks or outreach activities Regular use of computer, phone, and office equipment
