Job Description

  • Develop and coordinate employment and housing related programs for residents
  • Consult with residents in the handling of issues such as family, financial, and educational problems
  • Conference with staff to develop case files, status reports, and treatment plans
  • Provide crisis intervention between residents
  • Maintain accurate and complete consumer records as required by laws, county policies, and administrative regulations
  • Enforce rules and regulations to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of shelter programs
  • Observe residents to detect and report unusual behavior
  • Counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, and/or behavioral problems and stigma affecting their growth and development
  • Prepare residents for later experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere through challenging tasks
  • Evaluate residents' abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using assessments, records, interviews, or professional sources
  • Provide special services such as effective communication, time management, conflict resolution, in effort to teach residents to handle conflicts without resorting to inappropriate behaviors
  • Conduct follow-up interviews with residents to determine if their needs have been met
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to work with consumers in a caring and respectful manner with an understanding of and consideration for their unique circumstances; prior experience developing, evaluating, and implementing a case management plan that is millstone driven; experience in identifying community resources; services and linking consumers to these services; completing written forms and reports accurately; building relationships; communicating effectively; providing good listening and coaching skills; and is computer literate and proficient at using Microsoft Office.
Must Have:
Willing to arrive early and state late, when necessary Must be able to establish rapport and build trust with consumers Must have an ability to handle crisis situations Reliability is a priority Great sense of humor Criminal background checks and drug testing are mandatory CPR/First Aid Certified Prior to Hire TB Clearance and Criminal Background Checks (MD and Federal) must be obtained prior to hire
