Job Description

Assists older adults and persons with disabilities with accessing a variety of public and government benefits and programs. The hiring salary for this position is $55,910 annually; full salary range for this position is $55,910 - $96,179 annually. Assists older adults and persons with disabilities in obtaining access to and qualifying for social, financial, and community benefits; Provides guidance to seniors and families through MAP Senior Information Assistance and State Health Insurance Assistance programs; Makes referrals, organizes and schedules special assistance and benefits programs for older adults; Maintains appropriate statistical data and case records; Establishes and maintains good relationships with other relevant community service agencies; Visits homes, hospitals, etc., as necessary; Conducts outreach and public education events; Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures; Ability to effectively communicate with staff, consumers, their families, other community agencies, and the public in a courteous manner; Thorough knowledge of government and community programs, services, and resources available to senior citizens; Ability to work independently on tasks and maintain records; Ability to plan, organize, and execute essential tasks with minimum instruction or review. Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work requires no unusual demand for physical effort. Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require safety precautions when visiting consumers' homes.
Additional Requirements:
Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results; Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
