Job Description

The Housing Advocacy Specialist supports individuals and households in Site-Based Supportive Housing by providing housing-focused case management, tenancy stabilization, and coordinated services. You'll focus on helping participants maintain stable housing through lease compliance, housing retention, and proactive problem-solving to address barriers that could jeopardize housing stability. You'll work closely with participants, property managers, and community partners to ensure individuals have the supports needed to sustain long-term housing success. Engagement may occur through in-person, phone, email, and mail-based interactions. This role requires strong critical thinking, relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex housing and service systems while maintaining a clear focus on housing retention outcomes. It also requires adaptability, consistent follow-through, and the ability to balance participant-centered support with program and funding requirements under Housing Support and Permanent Supportive Housing guidelines. The position is grounded in both professional skill and personal commitment to housing stability work, including empathy, cultural humility, and a trauma-informed, equity-centered approach, while maintaining adherence to program expectations and compliance standards. This full-time position (40 hours per week) is Monday-Friday and will be based in Rochester. Starting pay is $28.00-$30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum bachelor's degree with previous case management/service coordination experience Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ability to pass a required background study, as defined by the position Current, valid driver's license in good standing, as defined by the agency's insurance provider (unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor) Current, valid personal automobile insurance (unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor)
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Social Worker and/or a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Fluency in one or more languages other than English, especially
Spanish or Somali Functional Requirements:
