Job Description

Advertisement Flyer Adult Medicaid Unit:
Performs difficult technical work determining eligibility of applicants to receive assistance through social service income maintenance programs through essential functions such as: receiving applications; training and advising caseworkers; ensuring compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and policies; maintaining records and files; preparing reports; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of an Income Maintenance Supervisor II or Income Maintenance Administrator. Limited Supervision is exercised over caseworkers in unit.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public social service organizations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the rules and regulations governing income maintenance programs
  • Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, social agencies, and the general public
  • Ability to perform casework function under and within structured time frame
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver's License This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
