This role entails collaborating with community partners and local organizations to provide households in need with essential resources and support to achieve long-term housing stability. This is an on-site, full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Programs Coordinator. Standard hours for the role are 9 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday. The starting pay rate for this position is $24/hour. Key Responsibilities Complete in-person intakes and eligibility assessments for clients experiencing housing instability Collect supporting documentation from clients and maintain secure and organized client files in accordance with agency policies and procedures and a variety of regulatory bodies Provide individualized, trauma-informed Case Management services to housing insecure households in accordance with agency policies and procedures and applicable funding regulations with the goal of preventing homelessness wherever possible, but when not avoidable, rapidly responding to and addressing client homelessness in a way that positions the client for long-term housing stability Document client case notes and other pertinent case details in a timely and accurate manner in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other required databases Utilize standardized forms and tools to capture additional client data and assist clients with goal-setting, housing search, and other activities Build and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with other agencies, landlords, and other stakeholders in order to facilitate rapid and successful assistance for all service-seekers, even those deemed ineligible for services at the Elizabeth Coalition Link clients to mainstream benefits and other community resources, as needed, in order to comprehensively address the root causes of homelessness and promote long-term housing stability and economic self-sufficiency Respond to and document incidents in accordance with agency procedures Aid other staff and management with other special projects as needed/assigned Interface with and maintain positive working relationships with all other staff, interns, volunteers, and other Elizabeth Coalition stakeholders and visitors Where appropriate, participate in staff meetings, trainings and other initiatives to support the overall mission and culture of the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge of housing services and resources In accordance with internal agency procedures and external regulations, maintain high-degree of confidentiality, and data integrity and security in order to protect client information and preserve client dignity Qualifications and Experience A bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field preferred, but not required Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in homeless services or housing-focused settings required Persons with lived experience of homelessness/housing insecurity are encouraged to apply. Education/work experience may be substituted with lived experience when all other qualifications are met. NJ Driver's license in good standing Comfortability and confidence in providing direct service to people experiencing homelessness and other subpopulations of at-risk people including those with substance use disorders, mental illness, etc. required Bilingual English/Spanish a plus, but not required Ability to effectively and safely use basic technology including phones, computers, printers/scanners; Working knowledge of Google Drive platform a plus Knowledge or experience with NJHMFA Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) or similar database a plus, but not required Ability to learn and effectively utilize other web-based database systems/platforms Ability to independently prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and multi-task required Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines Ability to communicate professionally and effectively verbally and in writing
