POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Participates as a member of Valencia Shelter Services' dynamic advocacy and housing teams, providing support in a trauma-informed manner. Maintains all client files in accordance with grant requirements and state and federal law requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides general client advocacy for all clients. This includes crisis intervention, peer counseling, personal and legal advocacy, and follow-up Responsible for providing necessary agency referrals Foster an environment that is sensitive to a client's cognitive, emotional, and psychological development Participate in client staffing Responsible for helping at the shelter when necessary Responsible for completing the required paperwork and maintaining client files. Responsible for preparing necessary paperwork for funding sources. Turn in monthly paperwork by the 3rd of the month for the preceding month. Coordinate with other VSS program components in referrals and case management. Abide by all VSS confidentiality policies and procedures Coordinate and schedule appointments for the Immigration Clinic Be cross-trained in other areas of the agency's support services. Be available to assist in the agency's other support services when necessary. Conduct trainings in the community. Represent the Agency at community events, providing materials and education. Complete all the training required as needed Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments as needed or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a human service-related field with some experience in working with adults and children. Bilingual (English-Spanish), preferably with Spanish as a first language. Experience working with diverse populations. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to perform effectively and calmly in crises. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to interact with residents in a caring manner while maintaining boundaries. Must be team-focused and work well with co-workers and partner agency members. Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software and operating systems such as Windows and MacOS. Must be able to complete all required
NMCSAP/NMCADV/NMCSVANW/CVRC/CYFD/NCA
training before assisting survivors. Maintains good physical and emotional well-being. Track records of demonstrating qualities such as good judgment, responsibility, and an ability to relate effectively with clients and family members. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation successfully Must have an acceptable driving record, a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a reliable vehicle

Up to $20.00 per hour
