Job Description

Centro Corazón de María is a sponsored ministry of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, a Roman Catholic congregation of nuns whose lives are built around the common understanding that everyone deserves a life of dignity. The Center is in its 24th year of operation. It is a non-for-profit Center serving the material needs of the Latino population of Hampton Bays and its environment. While the spirit of the founders remains an important aspect of the center, no religious affiliation or religious activities are required of our staff. We are looking for a full-time
SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR.
Someone who shares our commitment to welcome immigrants with compassion and respond to their desire to flourish in the U.S.A. The primary focus in this position is on individual and group intervention to address a range of problems presented by people who use our drop-in service center. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Social work or related Human Services field Bilingual, English/Spanish is a must Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Team Player but can also work independently Computer or data entry skills Strong organizational skills Excellent interpersonal, engagement, and relationship building skills Detailed oriented Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion
RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome all clients with a compassionate and non-judgmental spirit. Counsel individuals on various issues as appropriate. Ensure proper tracking, filing, storage, and handling of important records and client information. Provide family referrals to local agencies, facilitate access to services and advocate for clients as needed. Assist clients in the completion of applications, and forms such as SNAP, financial assistance, etc. Identify current client issues and assist with immediate needs (emergency assistance) as indicated. Participate in various advocacy efforts related to immigrant issues as time allows and in coordination with the supervisor. Act as a liaison between Centro Corazón de María and community agencies in coordination with the supervisor to strengthen partnerships and expand resources. Participate in two signature activities, the Thanksgiving Celebration and Christmas Toy collection. Assist in occasional fundraising events. Participate in equally shared routine office tasks. Participate in events, projects, and initiatives beyond primary job responsibilities to support the organization's mission.
