Job Description

The Opportunity The Youth Mentor will work for the Empowerment Through Wellness to Prevent Gun Violence Initiative, which delivers youth-focused gun violence prevention and community violence intervention programming. The mentor will be providing mentoring services to youth charged with gun-related offenses. Among other things, this will include assisting participants with developing positive socialization and decision making skills. Responsibilities Conduct weekly face to face mentoring sessions with participants. Identify high risk behaviors in youth and provide mentoring services to intervene in continued high risk activity. Participate in case conference meetings as scheduled and work collaboratively with case manager, therapeutic counselor, court staff and community resources working with participant. Respond to participant emergency notifications Risk-Reduction Planning- to modify high-risk behaviors documented every 90 days in the database Attend participant case management meetings when needed to support participants in goal accomplishment. Serve as linkages and support for individuals to enhance their assistance and use of opportunities and programs in the community (e.g. job programs, GED, drug treatment, and mentoring). Attend mandatory training and professional development trainings Assume other tasks and responsibilities as assigned to ensure the effective operation Qualifications Bilingual-English/Spanish High School Diploma/GED Lived experience required. 2+ years of experience working with at risk populations. Valid and clean New York State Driver's License Compensation The competitive compensation range is reflected with FCA's framework, culture, and values.
