Job Description

Job Summary The DV Case Manager maintains a safe, caring and respectful environment in a shelter setting for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence. Provides trauma-informed case management, safety planning and advocacy services. Promotes hope and empowerment while providing coordination of care, referrals, and follow up. Essential Functions Operate shelter during scheduled shift Respond to incoming calls regarding safety and security; conduct preliminary assessments; debrief staff after crucial incidents Conduct intake of new residents, orient new residents to shelter, and facilitate departures Help residents adjust to group living while protecting their privacy and maintaining professional boundaries Mediate conflict between shelter residents Monitor compliance with all safety guidelines for shelter; check security equipment, doors and windows; respond swiftly and accurately to alarms and safety concerns; initiate emergency protocol as needed Provide care for children in residence Perform routine shelter maintenance, cleaning tasks and laundry Follow established chain of command to report unusual activity and incidents Document activities thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner as required by DVPI and its funders Deliver comprehensive case management services to survivors in residence Assess situation and needs Assist survivors in setting and achieving goals to increase safety, identify and address barriers to accessing healthcare services; provide appropriate referrals and linkage to internal and community resources related to housing, financial and vocational needs, alcohol and drug treatment, and other support services Encourage survivors to prioritize and address all acute and chronic health concerns Coordinate services across DVPI Provide transportation for participants as needed Coordinate busing enrollment and/or transfers with school liaisons for children in residence Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely client case notes in accordance with DVPI standards Participate in case reviews and contribute to overall program evaluation, improvements, and planning Accept incoming calls placed to 24 hour hotline; provide crisis intervention, safety planning, initial shelter assessment, and appropriate referrals; may include but is not limited to coordinating services across DVPI and with community program partners Establish and maintain working relationships with internal partners, local mental health agencies, child protective services, counseling providers, local community support and outreach groups Other Functions Provide support to shelter staff for consultation and to ensure continuity of services Rotate weekend on-call duty with other Residential Services team members Process donations Represent DVPI at community and collaborative meetings; advocate on behalf of survivors and facilitate positive change Complete in-service training and professional development activities mandated by DVPI and its funders Other duties as assigned No phone calls accepted.
