Job Description

Bergmann & Moore has grown to become one of the largest law firms in the country focusing solely in the area of Veterans' disability benefits. We have helped thousands of Veterans and their families in all 50 states and around the world successfully navigate the complicated claims process at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We are seeking a Case Manager to join our team! This position is hybrid, with the ability to work remotely and come in for monthly group trainings, and we require residence in Maryland, DC, or Virginia. Our Case Managers actively work on multiple cases at a time, including drafting briefs, collecting evidence, and interacting with clients. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and analytical skills and will actively seek and implement feedback, as critical job duties include reviewing case files and records, researching precedents and evidence, developing strategies and arguments for appeals, and drafting all written documents and briefs essential to each case. You must be a self-starter who excels at time management and can be trusted to stay on top of multiple deadlines without constant oversight. Additional job duties include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities: Create and update case entries according to database guidelines. Prepare onboarding paperwork for new clients. • Identify, track, and meet deadlines essential to cases. Review files and assume responsibility for all assigned files. Collect evidence and records, contact regional VA offices, and respond to all inquiries regarding cases. Draft all written work essential to each case and send to Supervisor for review. Prepare clients for VA exams. Send paperwork to appropriate agencies and follow up with agencies regarding status of claims. Interact with clients regarding status of cases and decisions. Inform Supervisor of issues pertaining to cases and clients. Close out files at the end of representation.
EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. • Writing and research skills critical.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent writing skills. Able to produce written work product that is appropriate to the audience and is written in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; strong attention to detail. Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions. Ability to meet deadlines through duration of every case. Ability to interact with clients and to be responsive to all requests from clients. Excellent problem solving skills that include identification and resolution of problems in a timely manner through skillful gathering and analyzing of information. Excellent oral communication skills.
TECHNICAL/COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS
