Job Description

What You'll Be Doing The Wake County Child Support Office partners with parents and custodians of minor children, and other states and nations to secure financial and medical support for families and children. We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and customer-focused Child Support Services Agent to join our team. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and flexibility. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive case management to parents seeking child support services and will work collaboratively with custodial and non-custodial parents, as well as other agencies and government officials involved in the coordination of services. This role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to negotiate and resolve cases through administrative and/or judicial processes in compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and program policy.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages caseload of 500+ cases Performs investigative work of a sensitive and confidential nature for Child Support program purposes Interviews and negotiates with program participants Researches and verifies income, assets, and expense information Prepares and presents case in Court, including testifying as a witness as appropriate Processes cases to establish, modify, or enforce child support orders Resolves account discrepancies Attains and maintains knowledge of, and compliance with, program policies, procedures, regulations governing the program Performs all other related duties as assigned The position offers a hybrid work schedule—three days in the office and two days working from home each week. However, during the training period, the new employee is required to work in the office five days per week. While the training period typically lasts 4-6 months, this requirement remains in place until the employee demonstrates the ability to perform all essential job functions and meet established performance expectations. This position is subject to a one-year probationary period.
