Job Description
Victim Service Advocate The Purple Flower Resource and Support Center for Survivors of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Victim Services Advocate to join our small direct impact team at The Purple Flower providing resources and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking in Carroll County, AR. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of survivors and have at least a little bit of relevant experience supporting people through trauma, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding flexible PT contract position. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and empowering local survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking by providing crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, law enforcement coordination, court and medical accompaniment, resource referrals and more while focusing on each survivor's unique path to safety, dignity and belonging. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. The Advocate will work directly with clients and their families as well as closely with our staff and related stakeholders, including local law enforcement, courts, community partners, social workers, and other advocacy organizations, to ensure that the needs of our clients are met effectively. Duties Facilitate crisis intervention for clients in danger, including overnight on-call shifts to staff our 24/7 crisis line and after hours safety planning, medical and police accompaniment, safe lodging coordination and occasional client transportation Complete new client screenings, intakes, needs assessments, case notes and record updates in-person and by phone / text including use of our digital case management system Offer emotional support, information and resource referrals customized to each client's unique circumstances, needs and goals Assist in educating clients about domestic violence patterns, assault considerations, healthy relationship dynamics, conflict management and deescalation strategies, and post-traumatic growth self-regulation approaches Coordinate temporary safe shelter through local hotel program and regional shelters Provide support and guidance to clients navigating legal and social service systems Serve as a liaison with legal, medical, law enforcement and social service agencies including accompaniment for court dates, medical exams, law enforcement interviews, social service benefit applications and more Occasionally transport clients to community resources and regional shelters (mileage reimbursed) Collaborate with child and adult protective services for mandated reporting and advocacy for secondary victims Represent our mission and our work at community events and via social media Participate in training sessions related to domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, crisis management, social service professionalism, and trauma-informed care
Relevant Experience:
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and build rapport quickly Previous experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, advocacy and/or emotional support is highly desirable Strong skills in crisis intervention and conflict management are essential Background in advocacy, behavioral health, therapy or social work is ideal (current students welcome) Professionalism and computer literacy in a highly collaborative context required Case management experience a plus Spanish-speakers encouraged to apply!PLEASE NOTE
Applicants MUST live in Carroll County, AR (to be on-call for overnight crisis line shifts) Availability for at least 2-3 daytime office shifts (10am-3pm) per week, 2-3 overnight on-call shifts (3pm-10am) per week and at least one weekend on-call shift required Background check required with no violent felonies Valid AR driver's license, insurance and clean driving record requiredJob Types:
