Family Advocate (Bilingual Preferred English/Spanish)
Julie Valentine Center Overview Description Job Description :
The Family Advocate is responsible for providing case management and supportive services to non•offending caregivers in cases of alleged abuse.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. This list of essential duties and responsibilities is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed. Incumbents may be required to perform other job•related tasks other than those specifically presented in this job description. Case Management Initiating and maintaining contact with non•offending caregivers and other community agencies associated with their case and documenting this information Apricot. Coordinating medical and forensic appointments with clients including ensuring that all appropriate paperwork is completed and communicating regularly with CAC Coordinator to ensure that the client file and appropriate paperwork is accurate, complete and available in a timely manner Assisting clients with completing victim compensation forms Follow up and implementation of MDT recommendations for clients and making referrals to appropriate service providers to meet client needs Clinical/ Direct Service With a Licensed Clinician, plan, organize and facilitate Non-Offending Caregiver Supports Groups Administrative Tracking and completing grant requirements, as well as completing the grant's semiannual and final reports Answering general children services related calls Monitor and maintain the CAC waiting areas including greeting clients, watching children as needed, and keeping the area clean and tidy Participate in weekly MDT meetings Participate in agency staff meetings, fundraisers and other activities as assigned Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as profession affiliations, conference, workshops, etc. Maintain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credential by completing annual training requirements Perform other duties as assigned and/ or requestedJob Requirements :
Minimum Education :
Bachelor's Degree Minimum Experience :
1 year preferredJob Specific Knowledge, Skills, Experience :
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to manage multiple tasks at one time; ability to relate well to caregivers and children; ability to communicate and remain calm in crisis situations; ability to prioritize and organize information; must have a working knowledge of child abuse, sexual abuse, criminal justice systems; experience working in a CAC preferred, but not required.
