Education :
Required•High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred•Bachelor's or degree from an accredited college/university, in a health and human services field.
Experience :
Required•With high school diploma or equivalent, 4 years of experience providing direct services to at-risk youth and families. Preferred•Bachelor's degree substitutes work experience.
Bilingual Preferred Job Summary:
The Family Support Specialist is responsible for using sound professional judgement and best practices to provide case management to the service population including crisis intervention as needed while maintaining compliance with established state and federal standards.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide individual and family sessions using Motivational Interviewing (MI), 2. Facilitate the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) virtually, in-office, or at other locations as needed 3. Case management services are provided by coordinating referrals, service planning and documentation of services for assigned caseload. 4. Provide crises intervention responding promptly and professionally to crises situations with clients at the office, during home visits and on phone calls (within business hours) using independent judgement and discretion. 5. Develop, monitor, and review treatment plans designed to increase strengths, address needs, and reduce conflict in the home. 6. Assist in emergency shelter placements and/or finding respite care when determined appropriate. 7. Mandated reporter•Report any suspected abuse or neglect to the program supervisor and all appropriate state and county enforcement agencies. 8. Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training and UCAP events. 9. Participate in weekly face to face or phone supervision with the supervisor. 10. Frequent travel to client homes and to other community partners as needed. 11. Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and state/federal partners.
Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. 2. Maintain a caseload in accordance with agency policies and procedures and licensing and contract standards. 3. Provide services to youth ages 6-18 (or until youth graduates from high school) and their families. 4. Offer individual, family and group sessions to assigned families as appropriate. 5. Complete training and received ongoing education on skills necessary for conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, etc. 6. Conduct follow-up calls and/or visits to youth/families in crises situations and complete safety planning as needed. 7. Compile, prepare, submit and maintain accurate case records, files, forms and additional information in accordance with agency policies, licensing and/or contract requirements. 8. Work flexible hours as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays when approved by supervisor or to resolve crisis situations when they arise. 9. Implement

professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the BCFS employee policy manual including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code, at all times. 12.
Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics. b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English. c. Work in a fast-paced environment. d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. f. Travel as needed. 13. Other job duties as assigned per grant requirements.
Requirements:
1. Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR. 2. Valid Texas Driver's license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation. 3. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens. 4. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request. 5. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years).
