POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of youth and their families? As a Youth and Family Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work directly with youth and their families, providing support, guidance, and resources to help them thrive. You will be responsible for meeting with assigned clients, documenting their progress, coordinating services, and working closely with case managers to ensure that client needs are met. You will work with a diverse range of individuals, including at-risk youth, those experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges, and families in crisis. Essential Functions:
Responsible for meeting with the assigned clients(s) for agreed-upon time frames and assigned hours that are expected to be obtained. Act as a resource and guide to youth and/or parents and legal guardians of at-risk youth facing single - multiple barriers in life. Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community to meet community needs. Work closely with agency staff, case managers, and other case partners through phone contact, in-person conferences, and group meetings. Always serve as an example/role model upholding the values and expectations of excellence. Accept and relate to clients who may not always share the mentor's lifestyle and values. Complete all documentation, notes and other paperwork in a timely manner. Attend any necessary court appointments, school meetings or other appointments as needed. Responsible for identifying the needs of participants, supporting them in goal development and achievement and leveraging resources for assisting them in becoming self-sufficient. Responsible for the identification and coordination of resources such as local housing, emergency assistance, education, health and other social service providers for the benefit of clients. Support the youth/family while maintaining the proper respect for the clients' right to self-determination and independence. Organize educational activities in an individual setting to remediate basic skills and increase functional educational levels. Provide weekly overview emails regularly to case manager/probation officer and other parties that may be involved with the client.
Required Experience:
High School Diploma, Associate, or Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or related area is preferred. Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively as a team Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts on a weekly basis Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent professional follow-through when corresponding with partners, staff and colleagues. Working knowledge of computer applications, email and have a working functional personal laptop. Valid Driver's License, clean driving record and an automobile are required Loves to have FUN and a PASSION for HELPING people!!
