POSITION TITLE
Case Manager
REPORTS TO
Lead Case Manager/Director of Survivor Services
POSITION SUMMARY
The Case Manager is a critical role within Freekind's Survivor Empowerment team, serving as the primary point of contact for individuals identified as victims of human trafficking, and providing trauma-responsive case management services to survivor clients of Freekind. The Case Manager is responsible for intake interviews, coordination of care, and follow up with survivors. This position works closely with other Case Manager(s), the Lead Case Manager and trained volunteer advocates. Case Managers report directly to the Lead Case Manager/Survivor Services Director to ensurevictims are identified and receive care and advocacy in keeping with best practices.
Duties Intake & Assessment:
Conduct eligibility intakes and initial needs assessments for survivors.
Direct Crisis Support:
Respond to Freekind's Helpline and provide crisis stabilization and safety planning as needed.
Case Coordination:
Provide trauma-informed case management, identifying and coordinating resources such as vocational, educational, and housing assistance.
Incarceration & Reentry:
Visit clients while incarcerated to complete assessments, conduct reentry planning, and perform required follow-up.
Advocacy & Collaboration:
Coordinate with partner organizations (e.g., probation/parole, attorneys, CSB case managers) to ensure a continuum of care and provide court advocacy or testimony when necessary.
Logistics & Referrals:
Research and coordinate program placement referrals and provide or coordinate transportation for survivors.
Administrative & Team Support:
Maintain accurate and timely client files; provide regular reports for operational management and grant reporting.
Volunteer Engagement:
Support volunteer survivor advocates and jail class instructors, meeting regularly with the team to ensure documented client needs are met.
Required Skills Crisis & Conflict Management:
Proven skills in crisis intervention, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
Clinical Sensitivity:
Patience and compassion for individuals with criminal backgrounds, mental health challenges, or substance abuse issues.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
Professional Boundaries:
Ability to maintain strong, healthy boundaries while working independently and as part of a team.
Critical Thinking:
Sound decision-making, critical thinking, and a "solution mindset" with the initiative to manage multiple clients simultaneously.
Adaptability:
Demonstrated flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and a willingness to work outside of "normal" hours as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in social work, criminal justice, victim advocacy, or psychology.
Experience:
Previous experience with marginalized populations or victims of human trafficking/sexual violence is preferred. Five or more years of equivalent training and experience will also be considered.

Licensure & Travel:
Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and a safe driving record; must be willing to use a personal vehicle for client transport.
Background Clearances:
Successful completion of a criminal background check and a trauma & resiliency assessment is required
Benefits:
In addition to a salary, all direct client service positions receive a monthly mileage stipend. Freekind offers health insurance covered at 50%, generous paid holidays and paid leave.
